When returning a secondhand goods dealer license

If you discontinue your secondhand goods business or if the individual who held the license dies, you are required to return your license.
In these cases, in accordance with Article 8, Paragraphs 1 and 3 of the Secondhand Articles Business Act, the license must be returned without delay via the police station with jurisdiction over the location of the principal place of business.

If someone other than you is submitting the notification, please bring proof of your relationship and identity.

Main cases where return is necessary

• When ceasing business as a secondhand goods dealer
• If you have obtained a secondhand goods dealer license but have not started business for six months or more
• If the individual who received the permit dies
• If the permission is revoked
• If you lose your permit and then find the original permit after receiving a replacement

Notification destination

• Police station where the permit was issued

If you have relocated your business office after obtaining permission and have filed a notification, the police station with jurisdiction over the location of that business office will be the place of your notification.
Submit the documents you have prepared to the police station and return your permit.
There is no fee in this case.

How to write a letter of reason for return

The reason for return is a document that must be submitted when returning your license.

Penalties

If you forget to return it, you may be subject to a fine of up to 10 yen.
