Employment transition support approval

Initial interview for user acceptance

Updated: July 2026, 2

The employment transition support project begins with an interview with the person with a disability who wishes to use the project.
The purpose of the initial interview is two-fold. The first step is to obtain basic information about people with disabilities and collect information necessary for employment support, such as life history, work needs, and motivation to work.
The other is to explain the employment transition support project and tell them about the efforts of their own workplace and how to proceed with support.
After this interview, we will organize the information obtained and consider specific directions for support.

Initial interviews are an essential part of providing support. Interviews can be conducted with only the person with a disability, or with a family member or someone from a support organization present, but it is a good way to obtain objective information about the person and check their current challenges and support system. Therefore, it is advisable to set up a system in which you can hear from family members and people from support organizations as much as possible.

How to proceed with the interview

In the actual interview, we first meet with the person with a disability who wishes to use the service, and briefly ask about the referral route, the motivation for wanting to use the service, and what they expect from the service. Once we have a rough overview of the person's profile, we organize it and explain what the employment transition support service can handle. In the explanation, we need to provide information that will give the person some idea of how the employment support service will proceed if they use the service, as well as information about the system.

Next, we will conduct an interview to determine the direction of more detailed support. At this stage, it is important to specifically listen to the information necessary for employment support. The figure below lists the information that needs to be understood in order to proceed with support.

In addition to basic information such as the type of disability certificate and whether or not you receive a basic disability pension, we will also ask about your past training experiences at facilities, offices, and companies, and your work history. Experiences from training and employment will be valuable information when promoting employment support. At this time, we will discuss the evaluation at the training site, your impressions, what you were good at,

The key is to look back together while digging into the reasons behind this.

We also ask about their wishes for employment, but it is important to keep in mind that people with disabilities may not have much experience in training or employment, and may have an image of employment based on the limited information they have received so far.
