 What is a group home?

 It is similar to a "share house" in that multiple people with intellectual, mental, or physical disabilities live together in local residential facilities (apartments, condominiums, or detached houses) with the support of a "caregiver."

Caregivers provide a variety of support to residents, including providing meals, managing their health and finances, providing advice on daily life, and providing nursing care such as bathing, toileting, and meals if necessary.

 Requirements for opening a group home

 To open a group home, there are four main criteria that must be met.

 Corporate standards

Businesses considering operating group homes must apply for designation with the prefecture in advance and receive designation for each business location. In addition, businesses considering operation must have legal personality.

If your organization does not have corporate status, you must obtain the corporate status listed above in advance.

Staffing standards

 1 administrator

In principle, they will be engaged in management work and will be the facility manager.

You can perform general management duties and also serve as the service manager or caretaker listed below.

2Service Manager

This is the person in charge of supporting residents.

Service management managers are required to have practical experience and attend training provided by the prefecture.

Those who have qualifications such as home helper grade 2 or above, childcare worker, social worker, social welfare director, child instructor, social reintegration instructor for mentally disabled persons, or teaching license, and who have 5 years or more of experience in counseling support work. Must have practical experience.

3 caretaker

In full-time terms, the number of people will be equal to or greater than the number of users divided by 10.

There are no specific qualification requirements, but candidates must be passionate about promoting the welfare of people with disabilities and have the ability to appropriately support people with disabilities in their daily lives.

4Life support worker

In terms of full-time employment, you will provide daily life support for people with disabilities, such as bathing, toileting, or feeding.

Equipment standards

 1 residence

It must be located in a residential area or in an area where opportunities for interaction with the user's family and local residents are secured to the same degree as in a residential area, and it must be located outside the premises of the residential facility or hospital.

2 equipment

A shared living residence has one or more units, and the living area is 1 m7.43 or more, excluding storage facilities, etc.

3Minimum capacity

・Capacity of designated office: 4 or more people

・Residency capacity of communal living residence: 2 to 10 people

(When using an existing building: 2 to 20 people, if the prefectural governor deems it particularly necessary: ​​21 to 30 people)

・Unit capacity: 2 to 10 people

・Capacity of unit room: 1 person (2 people if deemed particularly necessary)
