Advanced Window Renovation 2026 Project: Subsidies for Non-Residential Buildings
The Advanced Window Renovation 2026 program now covers "residential buildings and some non-residential buildings," meaning that non-residential buildings are now included in the program. This page summarizes the non-residential buildings that are newly eligible for the subsidy.
Buildings eligible for subsidies
The following non-residential buildings are also eligible for subsidies under the Advanced Window Renovation 2026 project.

Subsidy

Subsidized construction work
Construction work that falls under categories 1 and 2 below but does not fall under category 3.
1 XThe following renovations using the target product
glass replacementThis involves removing only the glass from existing windows and replacing it with double-glazed glass or similar, while utilizing the existing window frames.
Interior window installationThis involves installing a new inner window inside an existing window, or removing an existing inner window and replacing it with a new one.
exterior window replacement :
Cover methodThis involves removing the existing window glass, installing a new window frame over the existing one, and replacing it with double-glazed glass or similar.
Chipping methodThis involves removing the existing window glass and frame, installing a new window frame, and replacing the glass with double-glazed glass or similar.
door replacement :
Cover methodThis involves removing the existing door frame, installing a new frame over the existing one, and then replacing the door.
Chipping methodThis involves removing the existing door and its frame, installing a new frame, and then replacing the door.

- *1 For non-residential buildings, this refers to buildings permitted to be constructed in Category 1 Low-Rise Residential Zones and Category 2 Low-Rise Residential Zones under the Building Standards Act.
- *2 Based on the "Technical Information on the Evaluation of Energy Consumption Performance in accordance with the 2016 Energy Conservation Standards (Housing)" published by the National Institute for Land and Infrastructure Management, specifically "2. Calculation Method of Energy Consumption Performance 2.1 Calculation Method Chapter 3 Heating and Cooling Load and Envelope Performance Section 3 Thermal Transmittance and Linear Thermal Transmittance 5. Thermal Transmittance of Parts 5.2 Openings 5.2.4 Thermal Transmittance of Openings (Windows, etc.) or Opening i (Doors, etc.) that are Mostly Made of Transparent Materials" (updated April 2025), the thermal transmittance of openings can be calculated using methods such as JIS A 2102-1, or, depending on the specifications of the window and door, using the thermal transmittance values specified in Appendix B of Chapter 3, Section 3 of the "Technical Information on the Evaluation of Energy Consumption Performance in accordance with the 2016 Energy Conservation Standards (Housing)".

Non-residential buildings with a total floor area of 240 m² or less: 1 million yen per building
Non-residential buildings with a total floor area exceeding 240 m²: 10 million yen per building
