Are you worried about the cost of switching to LED lighting? This is a must-read for you! Did you know that many subsidies for the introduction of LED lighting equipment are available from the national and local governments as a measure against the recent surge in energy prices? Now is the perfect time to significantly reduce installation costs and lower your monthly fixed expenses. Why not reduce your actual burden and achieve energy savings?
This document summarizes the subsidy programs for the introduction of LED equipment in buildings and other structures during the 8 fiscal year.
There are four national subsidy programs and four programs that are only available in Tokyo.

Government subsidy program
FY7 Supplementary Budget: Energy Conservation and Non-Fossil Fuel Conversion Subsidy (Factory/Business Establishment Type)
This subsidy program provides significant government support for the cost of equipment investment when small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with factories, stores, and other business premises, as well as large corporations and sole proprietors, introduce energy-saving equipment. This has the advantage of significantly reducing the cost of equipment introduction and leading to lower running costs.
Target projects and frameworks
For the introduction of LED equipment, the applicable subsidy program is (I) Factory/Business Site Type. You can utilize one of the three application categories within that type.
Advanced Framework
Target equipment: Designated facilities that meet the energy efficiency standards and other criteria predetermined by SII (Sustainable Energy Innovation Initiative) and have been published by SII.
Subsidy rate: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are limited to 2/3 of the total, while large corporations and other businesses are limited to 1/2.
Maximum amount (single year): 15 billion yen (20 billion yen if converted to non-fossil fuels).
General category
Target equipment: This includes "custom-made equipment" that involves mechanical design, and "designated equipment" that meets the standards set by SII.
Subsidy rate: Up to 1/2 (this may vary, such as up to 1/3 for businesses with a payback period of less than 7 years, and up to 1/4 for large companies).
Maximum amount (single year): 15 billion yen (20 billion yen if converted to non-fossil fuels).
Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Investment Promotion Framework
Target audience/equipment: When small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) introduce custom-made or designated equipment.
Subsidy rate: Up to 1/2 (up to 1/3 for businesses with a payback period of less than 5 years).
Maximum amount (single year): 15 billion yen (20 billion yen if converted to non-fossil fuels).
Recruitment period
The second round of applications is scheduled to begin in early June.
FY7 Supplementary Budget: Energy Conservation and Non-Fossil Fuel Conversion Subsidy (Equipment Unit Type)
By utilizing this subsidy, large corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, and sole proprietors operating in Japan can receive up to 5 million yen in financial assistance when introducing highly efficient energy-saving equipment, and can also significantly reduce their monthly energy costs after installation.
Target projects and frameworks
For the introduction of LED equipment, the applicable subsidy program is (III) Equipment Unit Type. You can utilize two application categories within that type.
Conventional frame
Contents: Upgrade to "designated equipment" that meets the standards set by SII.
Eligible expenses: equipment cost
Subsidy rate: Within 1/3
The maximum amount: One hundred million yen
