Second Q&A regarding the point system for highly skilled human resources
Posted: May 2012, 4
Q: Please tell me the procedure for entering Japan as a highly skilled professional.
A: If you enter Japan as a highly skilled professional, you will need to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility for Residence Status related to your work status.
However, "diplomatic", "official" and "technical intern" statuses of residence are not eligible.
When applying for the issuance of a Certificate of Eligibility, those who wish to enter Japan as highly skilled foreign nationals should submit a self-scored "point calculation form" and make a request to that effect. Of course, you will also need to submit supporting documents. If the conditions are met, a Certificate of Eligibility for Residence will be issued with the activity type as a highly-skilled professional listed. Apply for a visa at the Japanese consulate (or embassy) in your home country along with the issued Certificate of Eligibility and receive a specific visa.
