Under the current system, there are only two fields eligible for Specified Skilled Worker No. 2: "construction" and "shipbuilding/marine industry."

This time, the following nine fields will be added. All of these are fields that are subject to Specified Skills No. 9.

Examinations for each field will begin around fall this year, and those who pass are expected to be allowed to change to Specified Skilled Worker No. 5 from May next year.

However, the field of nursing care was not eligible for Specified Skilled Worker No. 2, as the status of residence "Nursing Care" is already available in the professional/technical field.

Foreign human resources who have been working since the establishment of Specified Skilled Worker will start reaching their period of stay from May 24.

Specified Skilled Worker No. 1 can only stay in Japan for a total of 5 years, so currently they are forced to return to their home countries, and it was necessary to review the system so that they can continue to work in Japan.
