Permanent resident visas are issued 10 years after arriving in Japan, and for 5 of those years, you must have a working visa and have worked.
I have an impression that it will take quite some time to get it.
However, if you meet the requirements for "Highly Skilled Foreign Professional", you will be able to apply for permanent residence within one year (or three years) after coming to Japan!

If you score 70 points or higher, you are considered a "highly-skilled foreign professional." *
*However, those with a score of 70 or above must have maintained a score of 3 or above three years ago, and those with a score of 80 or above must have maintained a score of 1 or above one year ago, respectively.
If you score 70 points or more but less than 80 points, you may be able to apply for permanent residence within 3 years after coming to Japan, and if you score 80 points or more, you may be able to apply for permanent residence within 1 year after coming to Japan.
