``Having a paper radio station license'' can now be replaced with ``storing it with a scanner.''

In recent years, with the advancement of digital technology, revisions have been made in the field of Radio Law. Due to system reforms based on the Regulatory Reform Implementation Plan, paper storage of radio station licenses can now be replaced with digital storage. (Effective date: April 2023, 4)

■This time's rule change

Under the regulations before the revision, radio station licenses and registration letters had to be kept at the permanent location of the radio equipment. Recently, the Radio Law Enforcement Regulations have been revised, making it possible to replace "radio station licenses and registrations electronically stored by scanners, etc." by immediately displaying them on tablets, etc. installed at radio stations as needed. . (*1)

■ 注意 点

・The location where scanner storage licenses, etc. are kept is the same as the location where paper licenses, etc. are kept.

・It is necessary to be able to immediately display the information on the provided computer, tablet, etc. as necessary.

・In addition to scanners, you can also take pictures with cameras and smartphones.

・There are certain requirements regarding resolution and number of pixels. (*2)

■Points to master rule changes

Radio stations such as simple radio stations and amateur stations can now replace the provision of licenses with digital storage, so when considering digitizing licenses, etc., please keep in mind the above points. Please take action.

(*1) Licenses for some ship stations, radio navigation mobile stations, and ship earth stations are not included in this issue because there is a requirement to display a written radio station license. It seems that this treatment will be reconsidered when digital licenses are introduced in January XNUMX, when the comprehensive radio station supervision system is revised.

(*2) When using a scanner, read at a resolution of 200 dpi or higher, and when using a camera, capture at a resolution of 388 million pixels or higher. Black and white, grayscale, and color are all possible.
