internships and summer jobs

Just as we accept Japanese students as part of our recruitment activities, we also accept foreign students as "internships."

Also, there is something called a "summer job" that is similar to an "internship", but regardless of which purpose you come to Japan for, you will need to obtain a "designated activity" status of residence.

These two activities are basically similar, but the major difference is whether or not credits are recognized at the university you attend in your home country. Those with credit recognition are called "internships," and those without are called "summer jobs."

A "summer job" literally means that you can use the "summer vacation" period to work in Japan, but it also seems possible to use a long vacation period even if it is not summer vacation.

The job content is similar to the requirements for "Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Affairs," and there needs to be a relationship between the content of your major at university and the content of the actual work you will be engaged in. Therefore, it is preferable that the job is not one that can be considered simple labor, such as over-the-counter sales or hall staff.

To apply, you will need various proof materials from the university, such as a certificate of enrollment. You should also clarify your past internship or summer job experience when applying.

If you are considering an internship before hiring talented personnel from overseas, please feel free to contact us.

Next time, I will delve a little deeper into summer jobs.
