Temporary Visitor

If you are visiting Japan for any of the following activities, you may need a short-term visa depending on the country you are from. 
 
– Sightseeing, recreation, sports, visiting relatives, inspection tours, participating in lectures or meetings, business contact or other similar activities during a short period of stay in Japan. NB.None of them should include paid activities. 
 
If you are a Russian national or national of NIS countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan) and wish to visit and stay Japan for less than 90 days, you should apply for a short-term visa. 
 
 
 

The Requirements for a Russian national or national of NIS countries
 
⇒ The applicant must have a guarantor in Japan who could guarantee the expenses  for the applicant’s stay in Japan, return travel expenses and compliance with Japanese laws and regulations. 
 
⇒ The documents should be provided by the guarantor as well as by the applicant. 
   The detail is provided in the column below.

The applicant(visitor) should provide the following;
(1) Visa application forms

(1) Letter of reason for invitation
(2) Schedule of stay
(3) Letter of guarantee
(4) Documents on the inviting organization

should provide one of the following;

(a) Copy of the incorporation register
(b) Copy of the quarterly corporate report (c) “Overview of the Company/Organization EBR> (d) Company/organization brochure 
Visits to relatives or acquaintances

・Visits to blood relatives or relatives
by affinity within the third degree
・Visits to acquaintances or friends
・Tourism at the invitation of
individuals
The applicant(visitor) should provide the following;
(1) Visa application forms
(2) pictures
(3) Passport
(4) Documents to prove kinship (for visit to relatives)
・Birth certificate
・Marriage certificate

The guarantor in Japan should provide the following;
(1) Letter of reason for invitation
(2) Schedule of stay
(3) Letter of guarantee
(4) Documents on the guarantor

Where the guarantor is a Japanese national;
(a) Certificate of residence
(b) Certificate of Employment, etc
(c) Certificate of income/taxation, certificate of tax payment, or copy of the final tax return with the seal

Where the guarantor is a foreign national;
(a) Certificate on alien registered matters
(b) Certificate of Employment, etc
(c) Certificate of Income/Taxation, certificate of tax payment, or copy of the final tax return with the seal

(5) Documents on the inviting person (when the inviting person is different from the guarantor) …
(4)(a) and (b) above will suffice.
(6) Documents to prove kinship (for visit to relatives)
・Certified copy of the family register
(7) Documents proving the acquaintance relationship (for visits to acquaintances)
・ Letters and e-mails exchanged
・Bills for international phone calls
・Photos of the visa applicant and the inviting person taken together
Tourism with Travel Agency Guarantee
・Tourism
The applicant(visitor) should provide the following;
(1) Visa application forms
(2) Pictures
(3) Passport

The guarantor in Japan should provide the following;
(1) Schedule of stay
(2) Letter of guarantee
(3) Travel agency providing guarantee should provide one of the following:

(a) Copy of the incorporation register
(b) Copy of the latest quarterly corporate report
(c) “Overview of the company/organization EBR
(d) Company/organization brochure

(4) Documents explaining the purpose of entry

(a) Confirmation slip for accommodation reservations
(b) Confirmation slip for airline reservations 

 

 

The Requirements for a Philippine national 

 ⇒ The applicant must have a guarantor in Japan who could guarantee the expenses for the applicant’s stay in Japan, return travel expenses and compliance with Japanese laws and regulations. 

 

⇒ The documents should be provided by the guarantor as well as by the applicant. 

   The detail is provided in the column below. 

 

Purpose of visit Necessary documents
Short-Term Business Affairs, etc.

・Participation in meeting
・Business affairs (business liaison, business talks, contract signing, after-sales services, advertising, market research) 
The applicant(visitor) should provide the following;

(1) Passport
(2) Visa application
(3) Picture
(4) Certificate of employment
(5) One of the following documents to prove ability to pay travel expenses

(a)Travel order from the employer
(b)Letter of temporary assignment
(c)Documents that are equivalent to the above

The guarantor/inviting organization in Japan should provide the following;

(1) Letter of reason for invitation
(2) One of the documents that explains activities during the stay:

(a)Contract between companies
(b)Meeting notes
(d)Documents that are equivalent to the above

(3) Schedule of stay
(4) Corporate registration, description of the company/organization or a copy of the
quarterly corporate report
NB.Inviting persons who are individuals may submit a business permit or certificate of employment
(Please submit the following documents if the guarantor pays a part or all of the travel expenses)

The following documents should be submitted if the guarantor pays a part or all of the travel expenses;

(1) Letter of guarantee
Visiting Relatives

Visiting blood relatives/relatives by affinity within the third degree
The applicant(visitor) should provide the following;
(1) Passport
(2) Visa application
(3) Picture
(4) Birth certificate
(The birth certificate should be able to show that the relationship of the applicant to the Japanese relatives is within the third degree.)
(5) Marriage certificate (Those already married only)
(6) Income certificate, or bank deposit book, or tax payment certificate of the applicant, or the applicant’s dependent issued by a public institution

The guarantor in Japan should provide the following;
(1) Letter of reason for invitation
(2) Documents pertaining to the reason for invitation(copies of medical checkup, maternal health log, etc.)
(3) Family register (when the inviting person or his/her spouse is Japanese)
(4) Certificate of residence NB.If the inviting person/guarantor is a foreigner, a copy of the alien registration, or a certificate on registered matters or a copy of the passport should be provided.

The following documents should be submitted if the guarantor pays a part or all of the travel expenses;
(1) Letter of guarantee
(2) One of the following documents pertaining to the guarantor:

(a) Certificate of income or certificate of tax withholding
(b) Bank certificate of account balance
(c) Copy of tax return
(d) Certificate of tax payment
Visiting Acquaintances/Tourism

・Visiting acquaintances (friends)
・Tourism
The applicant(visitor) should provide the following;
(1) Passport
(2) Visa application
(3) Picture
(4) Birth certificate
(5) Marriage certificate (Those already married only)
(6) Documents proving the acquaintance relationship (Except for tourism)
Eg.picture, letter, e-mail, international telephone call log, etc.
(7) Income certificate, or bank deposit book, or tax payment certificate of the applicant, or the applicant’s dependent issued by a public institution

The guarantor in Japan should provide the following;
(1) Letter of reason for invitation
(2) Documents pertaining to the reason for invitation (explanation of acquaintance, family register, etc.)
(3) Schedule of Stay
(4) Certificate of residence (certificate of all items)
NB. If the inviting person/guarantor is a foreigner, a copy of the alien registration, or a certificate on registered matters or a copy of the passport should be provided.

The following documents should be submitted if the guarantor pays a part or all of the travel expenses;
(1) Letter of guarantee
(2)One of the following documents pertaining to the guarantor:

(a) Certificate of income or certificate of tax withholding
(b) Bank certificate of account balance
(c) Copy of tax return
(d) Certificate of tax payment

 

 

The Requirements for a Chinese national

⇒ The applicant must have a guarantor in Japan who could guarantee the expenses for the applicant’s stay in Japan, return travel expenses and compliance with Japanese laws and regulations.
